So we know Edith Wharton wrote her book originally
as a series of entries for a magazine known as Scribner's. Here is what Wiki will tell you about the
magazine, and here is the digital copy of its articles.
(Wharton's entries featured in 1905 from January to November, so scan the
4th link down) (Oddly, the book itself was printed a month earlier, on 14th
October 1905. Go figure.)
